...there can be a a few tricky steps involved in exhaust installation beyond the pipes themselves. In addition to replacing the exhaust gaskets, you may need to adjust the fuel system to work correctly with your new exhaust.

Physically installing your new exhaust pipes isn’t a tremendously complex job but tuning your bike’s fuel system is better left to a professional motorcycle mechanic.

Essential Extra Items
For bikes with carburetors, that means installing a jet kit - usually priced under $100.

For bikes with fuel injection systems, an engine management system like a Dynojet Power Commander may be needed. Power Commanders typically cost around $350 plus installation and are readily available online at our recommended dealers.

No Blue Pipes Allowed
We recommend having your new exhaust professionally installed along with the fuel system work, so you don’t damage your engine or overheat your new pipes and cause them to discolor. Here in the Northeast, an exhaust installation cost approximately $120 plus the cost of the parts.

The local motorcycle shop can save you the time and aggravation of installing and tuning your new exhaust pipes but in many instances it makes sense to buy your new exhaust online.
